French rider Lloyd Mondory tests positive for EPO

Ag2r-La Mondiale man provisionally suspended after failing out-of-competition test

French rider Lloyd Mondory (Ag2r-La Mondiale) has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for EPO in an out-of-competition doping control.

The UCI confirmed the Frenchman’s suspension in a short statement, announcing the adverse analytical finding had been found in a sample take on February 17.

Mondory, who enjoyed four top-ten finishes at last year’s Vuelta a Espana, has the right to request and attend the analysis of a B sample but is now provisionally suspended from racing until a verdict is reached.

It rules the Ag2r-La Mondiale man out of this week’s Tirreno-Adriatico, for which he was due to take the start line tomorrow (Wednesday 11).

The UCI announced they will be making no comment on the subject at the current time, while Ag2r-La Mondiale are also yet to respond.

The announcement comes just one day after the publication of the CIRC report, in which one ‘respected cycling professional’ was quoted as saying 90 per cent of the peloton still doped.
