Alex Dowsett (Movistar) has grown quite attached to the British national time trial champion’s jersey.
The 24-year-old claimed a third successive title in Stewarton, Scotland, on Thursday, ahead of Matt Bottrill (www.drag2zero.com) and Ben Swift (Team Sky).
Dowsett crashed heavily during his ride but recovered to stop the clock in one hour, two minutes and 30 seconds.
The Essex-born rider became only the 16th British rider to win a Grand Tour stage last month after triumphing in the stage eight time trial of the Giro d’Italia.
These pictures from Alex Whitehead of SWPix.com tell the story of Dowsett’s time trial victory in Scotland, as well as Joanna Rowsell’s (Wiggle-Honda) triumph in the women’s race and Sam Harrison’s (100% Me) success in the men’s under-23 event.
