Criterium du Dauphine 2014: stage one – photo gallery

Chris Froome blasts to victory in Lyon

Chris Froome (Team Sky) could not have asked for a better start to the summer having taken the yellow jersey on stage one of the Criterium du Dauphine.

Froome landed an early blow on his chief Tour de France rivals, Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) and Vincenzo Nibali (Astana), by blitzing the 10.4km individual time trial course in Lyon.

Froome’s time was eight seconds faster than Contador’s and it means the Kenyan-born Brit will be wearing what he hopes is his first maillot jaune of many this summer.

Here’s how the action unfolded through the lens of Stefano Sirotti.
