Loyalty brings its rewards, even if they are sometimes delayed.
Team Sky’s David Lopez, a loyal member of Chris Froome’s Tour de France-winning squad, today secured his own day in the spotlight by winning the sixth stage of the Eneco Tour.
While Froome’s most memorable individual triumph of the hundredth Tour came on the signature climb of Mont Ventoux, Lopez seized his own victory at the summit of the Cote de la Redoux, the most iconic of the numerous feared bergs of the Ardennes Classics.
Tomorrow’s final stage from Tienen will bring more infamous muurs, ending on the most feared of them all, the Muur van Geraardsbergen.
