Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Shimano) is touted as a future star of the sport and took his first win at WorldTour level with a time trial victory on stage three of the Eneco Tour.
The 23-year-old, who became the Dutch national time trial champion for the first time in June, stopped the clock in 10:55 minutes on the 9.6km course to beat four-time world time trial champion Fabian Cancellara (Trek Factory) by two seconds.
Meanwhile, Commonwealth Games road race champion Geraint Thomas, who is leading Team Sky at the Eneco Tour, continued his strong form by finishing third on the stage to rise to sixth overall, while another Briton, Steve Cummings (BMC Racing), also took a spot in the top ten by finishing sixth on the day.
