The fact the Australian finished third despite two slips proved as much – but Rigoberto Uran (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) clearly had’nt read the script.
The Colombian obliterated his rivals and now holds a commanding overall lead, with Evans the only man within a minute of him in the general classification.
