Three times the bridesmaid, Cannondale’s Slovakian sprint star Peter Sagan must have been wondering if a stage victory in the 2013 Tour de France was destined to permanently escape him.
His team-mates had other ideas, however, as they drove the pace all day before Sagan put three second-place finishes behind him to sprint to victory in Albi and extend his lead atop the points classification.
With his main rivals for the green jersey, including Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) and Andre Greipel (Lotto Belisol) dropped on a category two climb earlier in the stage, the Slovakian did what he does best and pipped John Degenkolb (Argos-Shimano) and Daniele Bennati (Team Saxo-Tinkoff) at the line.
See how he did it in our gallery of photos from UCI WorldTour photographer Stefano Sirotti.
