Commonwealth Games 2014: men’s and women’s individual time trials – the contenders

Who will be crowned as the Commonwealth Games time trial champion in Glasgow?

Who else is capable of leaving Glasgow with a Commonwealth Games medal around their neck?

Jesse Sergent will lead the charge for New Zealand and the 26-year-old should arrive in Scotland in fine form, having secured a solo victory on stage five of the Tour of Austria earlier this month, before following that result with second place in the stage seven individual time trial.

Canada’s Svein Tuft wore the Giro d’Italia’s pink leader’s jersey after helping Orica-GreenEDGE to victory in the opening team time trial of his year’s race in Belfast

Meanwhile, Canadian road and time trial national champion Svein Tuft is another man who made the journey straight from the Tour de France to the Commonwealth Games, having finished 15th in the stage 20 individual time trial.
