Tom van Asbroeck (LottoNL-Jumbo)
Sep Vanmarcke leads LottoNL-Jumbo’s hopes at the cobbled Classics but winter signing Tom van Asbroeck is another man to watch this spring.
The 24-year-old was sixth at Gent-Wevelgem last season, in the colours of Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise, and enjoyed a string of podium places on the Belgian one-day scene for his former employers.
Fourth at Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne too, the upcoming Belgian provides a second string to the LottoNL-Jumbo bow and may benefit from being under the radar too.
His Dwars door Vlaanderen outing failed to pull up any trees either, as he finished 38th, in a group more than six minutes behind the winner, his former Topsport Vlaanderen team-mate Jelle Wallays.
He is very much an outsider – and likely to play second fiddle to Vanmarcke, who finished fourth last year – but LottoNL-Jumbo will take any win they can get at the moment and the 24-year-old could be good for at least a spot on the podium on his day.
