Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic 2014: preview

The route and riders for Britain's biggest UCI one-day race

Fresh from his debut Tour de France, Simon Yates was due to ride alongside twin brother Adam in London but the latter has been withdrawn after crashing at the Clasica San Sebastian.

Last time out the Bury-born duo, riding for Great Britain, both played an active part in the race by joining the breakaways.

Simon was in the break on the final climb of Box Hill, and there is no reason to suggest he will not attempt a similar move this time out.

His climbing ability is undoubted and his penchant for attacking riding was evident at the Tour de France when he twice joined a day-long break.

His third place at the national road race, which preceded the Tour, showed what he can do on an undulating circuit so perhaps another extraordinary step in this fine season will be in store.
