Ryder Hesjedal (Cannondale-Garmin)
Former Giro d’Italia champion Ryder Hesjedal has already stated, having started the Tour on the back of fifth place at the Giro, his aim for the race is to come good in the final week.
And given the final week is packed full of big mountains and summit finishes, there’s a good chance he will chalk up plenty of mountains points if he delivers on that promise.
Hesjedal finished the Giro strongly, racing to second on both of the final mountain stages, and the Cannondale-Garmin man can certainly climb.
Team-mates Daniel Martin and Andrew Talansky may want support in the mountains, but if neither are in GC contention by that point, expect Hesjedal to be given licence to attack.
The Canadian is capable of winning the polka dot jersey, make no mistake about that, it is just whether he can find form in time to start racking up the points.
