Stage two of the 2013 Tour de France was a day of mixed emotions for German sprinter, Marcel Kittel (Argos Shimano).
After beginning the day in the yellow jersey of race leader, following his sprint victory on stage one, he limped in 17 minutes behind the winner, Jan Bakelants (Radioshack-Leopard), who promptly claimed his maillot jaune.
All was not lost for Kittel, however, who was invited on to the podium to pull on the green jersey of points leader. How so?
