Tour de France 2013 – stage three: rider reaction

Simon Gerrans (Orica-GreenEDGE) is a member of a select club of riders who have won stages in all three Grand Tours – and now the 33-year-old has two Tour de France victories to his name.

Gerrans made history on stage three of the 2013 race by becoming the first rider to win a stage of the Tour for an Australian team. The fact the former Team Sky rider is Australian himself make the victory even more sweeter.

From one hero to another, Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) remains in the race despite fracturing his pelvis in the huge crash at the end of stage one.

The double Olympic gold medallist finished in a sizeable group more than nine minutes behind Gerrans,  and the Welshman is now 194th overall.

Here’s the what Gerrans, Thomas, Mark Cavendish, Peter Sagan and David Millar had to say after the stage.
