BMC Racing’s next video puts together another series of clips which show the breakaway riders going through and off, and second view of the Paterberg. 

It shows just how grueling the ascent is, with riders fighting to maintain momentum on the 22 per cent gradient. If you look carefully, you’ll also see an IAM Cycling rider suffer a mechanical at the worst possible time on the Paterberg.

Any loss of power on the cobbles can quickly see a gap open up and the severity of the slope often makes it difficult to riders to get going again if they do have to put a foot down.
