4. Sebastian Henao (Team Sky)
Henao, younger cousin of Team Sky’s Sergio, was snapped up by the British WorldTour team having been crowned best young rider at last year’s Vuelta a Colombia.
And, then still aged just 20, Henao was handed quite a baptism of fire when he was thrust into the team for the Giro d’Italia.
Despite his tender age, however, Henao enjoyed a hugely successful Grand Tour debut, giving the heavily-depleted Team Sky much hope for the future.
Eighth on the brutal stage to Val Martello – which included the now infamous passes of the Gavia and Stelvio – Henao rode in alongside the then maglia rosa Rigoberto Uran.
Another top-ten in the mountain time trial cemented his reputation as a climber to watch for the future, finishing 22nd overall in the end.
Back in the ranks as Pete Kennaugh won the Tour of Austria and Sir Bradley Wiggins claimed third at the Tour of Britain, Henao is likely to be a key part of Team Sky’s ambitions going forward.
