A new sportive event is to be held in the Meon Valley, Hampshire, as part of a two-day ‘festival of cycling’ to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
The Garmin Sportive, supported by British Cycling, will be held on Saturday May 19, and offered in two distances: 50km and 80km. Both will be held over a “rolling route”. Entry costs £25.
Organisers have pledged electronic timing, feed stations, emergency support, and a web results services from timelaps.co.uk. An official photographer, goody bags for all riders, and guest appearances from professional riders are also promised.
Registration will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Friday May 18 and between 6am and 8am on Saturday May 19. Riders will set off between 8am to 9am for a final finishing time of 2pm.
The Garmin Sportive will form part of the two-day QE Cycle Fest, an event held in support of Cancer Research UK at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Hampshire.
‘Go Ride’ racing day for children, supported by Sky, will run from 2pm to 8pm. Two mountain bike events will be held. The QECP Trail Building collective will give guided rides areound their new Red trail between 2pm and 4pm, and from 4pm to 6pm to 10pm a four-hour mountain bike ‘Enduro’ race will be held.
On Sunday May 20, Hargroves Cycles will hold a demo day, showing models from Cannondale, Cube, Scott, Specialized, Stevens, and Surly.
Free camping, onsite catering, visitor centre facilities, and secure parking are offered for all events.
