If preparing for a century ride is giving you sleepless nights, spare a thought for a quartet from Wales and Scotland who are preparing to cycle 1,000 miles from Turin to Cardiff’s Tiger Bay.
Friends Scott Jenkins (31), Rhys Jenkins (22), David Thomas (30), all from Wales, and Kris Lindsay (27) of Scotland are pedaling to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer support and the Dumfries and the Galloway Endowment Fund in challenge dubbed the 1000TT.
The quartet will leave Turin on June 3 and cycle 100 miles a day for 10 days to arrive in Tiger Bay on June 13, crossing five countries, five cities, and 50 towns on an odyssey inspired by the battle waged by various friends and family members against cancer.
Kris Lindsay said: “I’m so pleased that we have been able to come together to support such a fantastic cause. This challenge is about trying to help, trying to make a difference and what better way to do it.”
The quartet will tackle 9,000ft of climbing, including the Tour de France climbs of the Col Du Lauteret and ‘Alpe d’Huez.
Rhys Jenkins, 24, will carry the Olympic Torch this summer around Dinas Powys. He has previously completed the Boston to Austin 2000 Mile Run.
