A popular Cotswold sportive is back on the British cycling calendar for 2014 after Eiger Events announced the reintroduction of the Blenheim Palace Sportive.
Last run in 2012, the event rolls out from the stately home of the same name with two routes offering either 60 or 100 miles of rolling Cotswold countryside on Sunday August 17.
And capacity has been increased for the return of the event, which also includes a 10km family ride in the grounds of Blenheim Palace.
Andy Townsend from Eiger Events said: “We are so excited to be bringing the Blenheim Palace Sportive back. Riders can challenge themselves with some great climbs in some of Britain’s most beautiful countryside, starting and ending at the historic Blenheim Palace.
“This is an event for cyclists, run by cyclists, so we’ve made a number of improvements to the course and the support the riders will receive. There’s no doubt this great event will be bigger and better than ever.”
Included in the event will be way-marked routes, electronic timing, mechanical support, feed stations, marshals and event photographers.
A limited number of VIP entries are also available, which include guaranteed entry, first wave departure, breakfast, lunch, massage and a goody bag.
Usually costing £100 for VIP entry, or £35 for standard entry, organisers are also offering an early bird discount – at £90 and £30 respectively – to celebrate the event’s return.
Admission to the family ride will open at 10.30am, with prices £11.00 for adults, £6.00 for children over five and £9.00 for concessions with tickets also allowing entry to the Palace park and gardens.
