Rider ID, Garmin, cash and phone
One item that should always be on your preparation tick list as you pack your bag is some form of rider identification. That may be a wristband, a key cards, frame sticker or there’s even an option to set important data on the home screen of your phone – all will allow folk to identify and help you quickly in the event of a serious mishap.
Not only is a Garmin useful for keeping you on the right course, but should you stray a little further afield as fatigue starts to enter the equation then they can also be handy to get you back on track as well as monitoring your overall performance on the day.
Nowadays we all generally carry a phone with us for safety and convenience, however cash or a credit card can often be overlooked. Get into the routine of tucking a note or card inside a zipped jersey pocket just in case – but remember to take them out when it comes to washing!
