HOY100 sportive returns with new summer date: your chance to ride with Sir Chris Hoy

Six-time Olympic champion's sportive returns to Cheshire in July

Sir Chris Hoy’s annual sportive, the HOY 100, returns in 2017 with a new summer date, offering the chance to ride in Cheshire alongside the six-time Olympic champion.

Rolling out of Arley Hall on Sunday July 2, with a choice of 100km or 100-mile courses, the sportive takes in the mixed terrain offered by the Cheshire Plains and the Peak District.

Highlights on the route, which the sportive used for the first time last year, also include Dunham Massey and Tatton Park, while the 100-mile route tackles the more challenging terrain on the edge of the Peak District and a climb through Macclesfield Forest.

Making use of Sir Chris’ training roads, the sportive costs £35 per adult, with free child entry available, and £5 from every entry – which includes electronic chip timings, finisher’s medal and post-ride food – is donated to The Scottish Association for Mental Health charity.

Evans Cycles event manager Mark Gregory said: “The move to Cheshire last year proved to be a great success, not only are we on Sir Chris Hoy’s local roads but the varied riding terrain in the area has allowed us to make the event accessible to a wide range of cycling abilities.”

Alongside the rides, the latest range of HOY Bikes will be showcased alongside free British Cycling Go Ride coaching sessions for younger riders.

“After the fantastic feedback we had from cyclists last year, I’m really pleased that the HOY 100 is returning to Cheshire again on 2nd July,” Sir Chris said. “Once again I look forward to riding with and talking to as many cyclists as possible at the 2017 HOY 100.”

Places for the event are limited and early entry is encouraged to avoid disappointment. For more information and to book your place visit the event website.
