Organisers of this Sunday’s Ride with Brad sportive have issued a last call for online entries.
The event, which is in its second year, gives sportive riders the chance to ride alongside Sir Bradley Wiggins, while Laura Trott and Dani King, two thirds of Great Britain’s Olympic team pursuit winning trio, will also take part with their Wiggle-Honda team-mates Elinor Barker and Rochelle Gilmore.
Entries can be made online until midnight on Thursday, while riders can also sign-up on the day.
The sportive has a choice of three routes – 160km, 100km and, new for 2013, 50km – starting in the Lancashire town of Barnoldswick and taking in the roads regularly used by Wiggins for training.
The event was established by the 2012 Tour de France champion last year in order to raise funds for his charity, the Bradley Wiggins Foundation, which aids young people in getting involved and developing their potential in sport. The Foundation is also a sponsor of Wiggle-Honda.
“With the World Championships coming up next month I’ve got a busy few weeks ahead of me, so I’m really looking forward to riding this sportive and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere,” said Wiggins.
“It’s been fantastic to see that so many people have signed up to come and ride with me and the Wiggle-Honda team at the weekend, and we’re hoping to get even more signing up in these last few days.
“To anyone that’s thinking of giving it a go but isn’t quite sure, my advice would be for them to come along and get stuck in, maybe starting with the 50km route. We’ve designed the routes to be challenging but fun – the most important thing is that everyone who comes to ride with us on Sunday enjoys themselves and has a great day out for a great cause.”
Entry for the 160km and 100km routes costs £40 and the 50km route costs £35. There will be a £5 surcharge for entries taken on the day.
