Gent-Wevelgem, Saturday March 28
With four routes available, the Gent-Wevelgem sportive on Saturday March 28 gives amateur riders the chance to tackle the Heuvelland hills before the sprinters’ teams bid to keep any breaks in check on the same roads a day later.
The sportive comes as the filling in an action-packed weekend of Flemish cycling: watch E3 Harelbeke, won by Peter Sagan in 2014, on the Friday, ride on the Saturday, and take in the Gent-Wevelgem pro race, won by Sagan in 2013 and John Degenkolb last year, on the Sunday.
The sportive has routes of 60km, 80km, 140km and 215km, and costs just €10 to enter. The longest route takes in all the main climbs of the professional race, including the Casselberg and Kemmelberg, while the shortest 60km course is significantly flatter but offers at least a taste of what the peloton will take on 24 hours later.
Routes: 60km, 80km, 140km, 215km
Entry fee: €10
