The online ballot for next year’s Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 sportive will open next month, after organisers confirmed the dates for the 2015 event.
Scheduled for the first weekend of August next year, Saturday August 1 and Sunday August 2, the Mayor of London’s Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling will return for a third edition in 2015.
Its inaugural edition, held last year, set records as more than 66,000 participants raised more than £7 million for charity.
And this year’s event, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday August 9 and Sunday August 10, saw more than 80,000 sign up for the ballot, with 24,000 selected to ride the sportive.
Any sportive riders keen to take part in the 2015 edition are therefore urged to register their interest in 2015 as early as possible when the online ballot opens on www.PrudentialRideLondon.co.uk on Monday August 18.
The ballot closes on Monday January 5 2015 or when 100,000 registrations have been received – whichever is earlier.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “Tens of thousands of cyclists turned out for the inaugural Prudential RideLondon as Londoners of all ages and abilities got on their bikes.
“It is fantastic news that the event is not only returning this year, but in 2015 as well, adding another world-class event to London’s sporting line-up.”
Exact details of the 2015 route and timings will be announced after this year’s event. For more information visit: www.PrudentialRideLondon.co.uk.
