Salisbury Saxon CX
The Salisbury Saxon CX is part of a new breed of cyclo-cross sportives, which combine road and off-road riding, tarmac and trails.
The first of three cyclo-cross sportives run by Cycle Events Organisation, the Salisbury Saxon CX offers 40km, 60km and 80km course on the lanes and trails surrounding Salisbury Plain. The courses are designed to cover a variety of terrain, typically with 60 per cent on the road, 25 per cent on fast tracks, 10 per cent on bridleways and five per cent on singletrack.
Entry costs £16 for the 40km course, or £20 for the 60km and 80km routes. Other CX sportives will take place in Woodcote, Berkshire, on January 26 and the South Downs on March 9.

Sunday December 1
Wiggle Wight Winter Sportive
Part of UK Cycling Events’ huge sportive calendar, the Wiggle Wight Winter Sportive takes place on the Isle of Wight, offering 42 and 61-mile routes on Sunday December 1.
The event will start and finish from just outside Yarmouth ferry terminal and riders can purchase entry with or without ferry travel. From there, the route heads in an anti-clockwise direction towards the Needles and then turns south, taking in the two biggest climbs on the route before heading north through the centre of the island to the finish.
Entry costs £28 (or £39 including ferry travel) and includes full route marking, two feed stations, electronic chip timing and bike wash facilities. Kids ride for free when accompanied by the paying adult.
