Kenny is an ambassador for the 24-hour endurance event, which launched to great success in 2015, and was tempted by the inaugural edition’s success to ride it himself this time out.
The event is open to soloists – who can use it as a qualify for the Race Across America – duos, teams of four, six or eight riders.
There are also shorter events, and a track omnium taking place over an action-packed weekend at the famous Kent motor racing circuit.
And Kenny said of taking part: “Rio was amazing and the speed of change after it all; you have such a definite plan for so long and you take that plan away and you’re left not really knowing what to do with yourself, so things like this are a good distraction, it’s still competing and just having a laugh as well.
“Brands Hatch is the best course for this event as you don’t have any of the dangers of the road. It has a lot of interesting undulations, especially as you get out into the forest. It’ll be a real challenge for people as they ride through the night, lighting their own way.”
