Carlton Bank, Teesside
Carlton Bank, Teesside
Another of the brutal climbs in the North Yorks Moors, alongside the Rosedale Chimney, Carlton Bank is every bit as punishing.
As with many of Britain’s toughest ascents, the challenge of tackling Carlton Bank is as much mental as it is physical, with the two kilometre climb largely straight and visibly very steep.
The climb regularly pitches up on its lower slopes before easing off ahead of another nasty kick. A kink to the right sees the gradient approach 30 per cent on a staircase to the summit and the stunning views out across Teesside it offers.
