Presented by writer and cyclist Jack Thurston, Bike is a weekly show delving into the art, science, politics and transcendental pleasure of cycling. Jack has been writing, researching and producing this show all about bicycles for around a year now. His first show celebrated the start of last year’s Tour de France, but he covers diverse and fascinating subjects from naked cyclists to the Dunwich Dynamo and from Kraftwerk to Bicycle bell tests. You could call it quirky but it’s totally addictive.
Jack does a wonderful job of bringing the images of cycling out of the radio, with the help of some excellent music and the sounds of cycling. His interviews are also friendly and informative – he concentrates just as much on the fun side of cycling as the serious factual stuff. It fits perfectly into any Monday Lunchtime.
The Bike Show is live on Resonance 104.4fm Mondays 1.30-2pm. If you don’t live in London then listen live and on-line at www.resonancefm.com
Resonance is an arts and music radio station run by volunteers and is recognised as being a one-off, a cross between Radio 4 and performance art. Marvellous stuff. Tune in, you’ll love it.
