Eurobike 2012: SRAM Force groupset updated

SRAM’s second-from-top Force groupset has been updated to benefit from technology previously only found on the firm’s range-topping Red components.

SRAM unveiled the updated Force groupset at Eurobike

SRAM Force, the company’s original groupset and still a popular choice for its combination of low weight, performance and affordability, gets improved chainrings, shifters and rear derailleur – but the price will remain the same.

The new chainrings are, in SRAM’s words, “optimised to provide professional-grade shifts, greater stiffness, power transfer and durability”.

The updated levers feature SRAM’s Zero-Loss technology

The updated shifters now benefit from SRAM’s Zero-Loss technology which affects both the front and rear shifters. In short, it allows for the the immediate engagement of shifts as the lever is pushed, with little wasted lever throw, reportedly resulting in faster shifts, more control and greater efficiency.

Finally, the rear derailleur, already updated earlier this year to accomodate a wide-ranging SRAM WiFli cassette, also now has new AeroGlide pulleys which are said to be quieter, smoother and run cleaner regardless of the conditions.
