The iconic Milk Race returns to Nottingham City Centre this month, with the race – resurrected last year – set to welcome a stellar line-up on Sunday May 25.
Multiple para cycling medal winner Dame Sarah Storey is among the riders confirmed for the race, while rising star Katie Archibald will also be on the start line.
Ed Clancy, meanwhile, will ride in the men’s elite race as he bids to follow in the footsteps of the likes of British Cycling head coach Shane Sutton, who won the prestigious event in its original iteration.
And alongside the elite races – which last year saw Dani King and Felix English take the top prizes – the event will offer three categories of public rides which are all now open for registration.
A family ride, suitable for all ages and abilities, a community ride – targeting children and adults aged eight and over – and an advanced ride for club riders are all on offer.
The day, put on through a partnership between The Dairy Council and Nottingham City Council, will also include family activities in Old Market Square before the racing begins.
Dairy Council chairman Sandy Wilkie said: “It’s fantastic to see the excitement building for this year’s event.
“The standard of the elite cyclists is set to be even higher than in 2013 and with the public rides on offer once again, the Milk Race will have something for everyone.”
Councillor David Trimble, of Nottingham City Council, added: “With activities for the whole family, plus the cream of British elite cycling taking to Nottingham’s roads, this year’s Milk Race looks set to be even bigger than in 2013.”
