The winter offers the perfect opportunity to reflect on the season that was and look forward to what we all hope will be another scintillating campaign in 2015.

And there will be some looking forward to the new year even more than others after bursting on to the scene  in 2014.

This year was certainly one which belonged to the young riders, with the likes of Peter Sagan (Cannondale), Nairo Quintana (Movistar) and Michal Kwiatkowski (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) all still to hit the age of 25.

All three have already enjoyed great success on the WorldTour stage, however, unlike the neo pros who impressed this season, taking to the upper echelons of pro cycling like a duck to water.
