Upavon Winter Series finds new home

Don’t fear, racing will still take place

The Upavon Winter Series has been forced to find a new home due to military building work.

With the increased use of Salisbury Plain for pre-Afghanistan training, Upavon has borne the brunt of the developments.

Organiser Darren Clarke has secured an alternative site utilising the test track at Corunna Barracks, Ludgershall.

The Ludgershall circuit is a grippy 0.9 mile with a mild drag each lap. The circuit requires some work to get it up to standard but Clarke is certain that this will be completed by the original Upavon start date of Sat January 8.

Due to the site being a secure Ministry of Defence area, riders who wish to take part in the series must email their rider details and vehicle registration number to [email protected] to secure entry to the site.

“Riders should understand that this is a military base and when arriving to race should proceed directly to the car park, race and then leave, anybody found not complying with this advice will be banned,” warned Clarke.

Ludghershall is on the A3026 and the venue postcode is SP11 9RP. There are currently no toilets at the circuit but portaloos will be available.

As ever all races are £10 (no cheques please).  The format for the racing will be as follows.

0930: 4/L 30 mins +2 laps
1030: 3/J 40 mins + 2 laps
1130: E/1/2/3 45 mins +2 laps
