British Cycling, the national governing body for cycle racing in the UK, has unveiled its new ‘Ride’ and ‘Race’ membership packages, which are aimed at anyone who rides a bike, from a Sky Ride leisure event participant to an Olympic gold medallist.
British Cycling Ride and Race members enjoy the same perks as Bradley Wiggins, Sir Chris Hoy or Victoria Pendleton, from cheap bike insurance to peace-of-mind protection from the same legal team that looks after the nation’s top riders.
Ride membership is designed for commuters, recreational cyclists and charity and sportive riders, with benefits ranging from unbeatable retail discounts and legal support to peace-of-mind insurance protection in the event of an accident. For just £24 a year, Ride members can also rely on expert advice from the British Cycling team.
Race membership is for competitive cyclists and offers fantastic retail discounts, access to coaching advice, legal support and peace-of-mind insurance protection in the event of an accident, as well as a racing licence. Depending on racing requirements, members can opt for a Bronze (£13.50 per year), Silver (£36 per year) or Gold (£64) level of membership.
Jonny Clay, British Cycling’s Cycle Sport and Membership Director, said: “We have launched ‘Ride’ and ‘Race’ packages because we want every cyclist to make the most of the time they spend on their bike, whatever their age and ability.”
