Matrix is an established brand overseas but only appeared in the UK in January having found a distributor to bring the range of wheels and frames to these shores.
We were keen to find out more about the company, having initially seen the range at the London Bike Show in January. They’ve sent us this Matrix 300 wheelset to test.
The 300s, intended for use as a training wheelset, have a 30mm deep clincher rim made from a niobium-aluminium alloy, with 20 stainless steel spokes at the front in a radial pattern, and 24 at the rear, with the driveside spokes laced to the Joytech hub in a two-cross pattern on the driveside, and in a radial display on the non-driveside.
Claimed weight is 1,594g, which is impressive for the £274.99 price tag. The wheels, which are handbuilt, are available in a black, white or gold finish and come with a two-year warranty. We’ll be putting some miles into them to see how they fare against some of the UK’s more established brands.
