Members of British Cycling will be given their own start zone for the Daily Mirror Great Manchester Cycle.
The event, backed by reigning Olympic women’s individual pursuit champion, Rebecca Romero, will take place in Manchester on June 4.
British Cycling members will be identified by an insignia stamped on their event numbers and will pay a discounted entry fee of £10. The entry fee covers chip timing, a Great Manchester Cycle t-shirt, a medal and a finishers pack.
British Cycling’s Gavin Finch said: “The Great Manchester Cycle is right on our doorstep and we’re pleased that our members can get this unique value-added opportunity. Being at the front of the start of the Great Manchester Cycle is just one of the many benefits of being a British Cycling member.”
The event will be held on closed roads across the city, including the Mancunian Way section of motorway.
Three distances will be offered on a closed-road circuit of 13 miles, offering a challenge for all abilities from competitive cyclists to family groups.
The ‘Get Out and Pedal’ ride covers 13 miles; the ‘Rule the Roads’ ride covers 26 miles, while the top-length ‘Test Yourself’ distance is 52 miles.
Entry costs £10 for adults and £5 for children aged over eight. Entry is free for children aged between three and seven.
The Great Manchester Cycle will feature as part of the city’s ‘Great’ festival of support, which includes the 10km Bupa Great Manchester Run and the British Gas Great Manchester Swim.
