Panache Cyclewear Eleven Jersey £85
Like the Eleven bib shorts reviewed previously, Panache Cyclewear’s Eleven jersey is stylishly designed and intended for riding in hot weather.
Running the fabric between the fingers reveals an incredibly fine Tessport HydroFit material, made from multi-layered fibres to ensure quick moisture evaporation, with CoolTouch mesh panels placed along the sides and underneath the armpits.
As this is a jersey designed for hot weather, there’s a full length front zip. Further reinforcing its credentials, Panache have made its three pockets out of the CoolTouch mesh, which avoids having an extra layer of material around the lower back and thus helps with the cooling effect the jersey gives the rider. One pocket gets a hole through which headphone cables can be routed. Gripper tape around the waist helps with the fit.
The jersey feels really light when you pull it on and out on the bike I felt a little underdressed at first – on one ride I even had to resort to wearing a gilet where I normally woudn’t because the material is just so light. This is one incredibly light jersey. But on hot days the jersey kept the body noticeable cooler than other jerseys tested, and was of real benefit. The full-length zip helped with ventilation and the mesh pockets worked a treat – we didn’t notice our contents getting soaked with sweat as with other jerseys.
The only detracting point about the jersey is the sizing: both a medium and small were tried and both proved to be too much on the loose side for a jersey of this type.
Available in white with a black stripe or black with a white stripe options.
Verdict
The Panache Cyclewear Eleven Jersey (along with the matching shorts) is perfect if you’re planning long rides in hot weather this summer.
