RH+ have sent us a batch of winter clothing to review just in time to embrace the first cold snap of season.

The Italian firm’s winter collection is comprehensive, with six jackets, a jersey, four bib tights, and a range of accessories from gloves to overshoes. We’ve got a selection which will cover most bases.

RH+ Iceland Jacket – £175

The name of the Iceland Jacket gives a clue as to its intended use. No, not for popping on for a trip to a low cost high street supermarket, but for cycling in cold conditions. In short it’s a fleece-lined, softshell with a high collar and full-length zip.

The jacket is made from RH+’s ‘Airdry Gold 250’ fabric, which is their warmest, heaviest fabric, with a recommended temperature range of -6 to 8 degrees. That’ll be the British winter, then.

It’s a three-layer, bonded fabric, designed to “maintain the body’s microclimate and ensure exceptional comfort even in the most adverse weather conditions.” The jacket promises a “high degree of breathability” to keep the rider warm while also moving sweat away from the skin. That moisture transfer is aided by two vents which, while they look like pockets at first glance, unzip to reveal a light mesh which allows air into the jacket.

The actual pockets are on the rear of the jacket: three, generously sized in the usual arrangement, with an additional central zipped pocket for valuables. A thick RH+ branded band at the rear of the jacket is designed to ensure a secure fit.

Styling is understated, with the RH+ logo on the right breast and left arm. Our ‘black contrast’ sample has a generous amount of reflective detail – more than most jackets – on the zip, vents, arms and back. The jacket is also available in black/white/lime green.
