Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) sprinted back into form on stage six of the Tour de France as he claimed his first victory of this year’s race.
It was the same stage on which he claimed his sole victory last time out, and the German champion delivered a perfectly-timed sprint from 250 metres back to repeat the achievement.
But that only tells half of the story, as crosswinds battered the bunch and a late acceleration by Omega Pharma-Quickstep caught out several teams including Marcel Kittel’s Giant-Shimano team-mates.
