The bone-shaking Flandrian cobbles place a lot of demand on both man and machine, and as a result there was plenty of specialised machines on show at this year’s Ronde.
Won by Fabian Cancellara (Trek Factory Racing), the race proved to be an enthralling spectacle – and there were plenty of stunning bikes to feast your eyes upon too.
Peter Sagan (Cannondale) was equipped with the Synapse Hi-Mod, while Omega Pharma-Quickstep duo Zdenek Stybar and Tom Boonen rode the Specialized S-Works Roubaix SL-4.
