Winter may mean treacherous roads and dark nights but it certainly does not mean the end of the line for two-wheeled excitement.

When the road cyclists to a break in winter, heading to warmer climes for training camps and to regroup, the ‘cross riders come out to play.

Cyclo-cross, with its mud, and popular Beligan imports, cowbells and frites, is enjoying an increased profile in the UK too, but how can you get involved?

Double British champion Ian Field certainly knows his ‘cross, and he provided us with his five top tips here.
