Congratulations to Laura Banks who has won a copy of Cyclocross 2012/13, a coffee table book by photographer, Balint Hamvas.
The hardback tome is packed with stunning images from the elite level of cyclo-cross and features stars including Marianne Vos, Sven Nys, and Britain’s own top ‘crossers, Helen Wyman, Nikki Harris, Gaby Durrin and Ian Field.
We’ll be posting a copy of the book to Laura, who answered our prize question correctly, identifying Vos as a six-time cyclo-cross world champion.
The Dutch maestro first pulled on the rainbow jersey of ‘cross world champion in 2006, the same year in which she won her first world road race title.
Since then, Vos has been ‘cross world champion in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013, with her last two victories repeating her road-cross worlds double of 2006.
Vos is expected to defend her cyclo-cross title on home soil in Hoogerheide, Nederlands next February.
She has begun this year’s ‘cross season in ominous form, winning the opening round of the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup in Valkenberg.
Hamvas was RCUK’s man on the spot in Valkenberg and at the second round in Tabor, Czech Republic and sent superb images from both rounds.
The third round will be held in two weeks time on the sands of Belgium’s infamous Koksijde circuit. Check back to RCUK for a full report and gallery.
