Assos Stinger Hat £28.99
The last couple of days I’ve been waking up to be greeted with a dusting of snow on the street below my flat, and while south London is not as cold as some other parts of the country, this is enough to tell me I’ll need to wrap up well.
This means dressing for the occasion. With modern helmets being so well ventilated thanks to all that time manufacturers are spending in wind tunnels perfecting the designs, it’s even more important to wear something suitable underneath.
The Assos Stinger hat is thin enough to sit comfortably under the helmet and the fabric does a top job at retaining heat. It’s kept my head and ears toasty warm on some particularly long and cold days, long after my toes and fingers have gone numb.
There’s a generous double-layer to keep the forehead – the bit heavily subjected to icy winds – and ears warm. There’s a reflective strip which only really only applies to non-helmet wearers. One size fits all and the hat is available in several colours.
