Dutch brand BeOne may not feature on most cyclists’ radar when choosing a new bike, but from the look of the one that has arrived in the office, we’re sure they’re going to cause a storm on the roads.
Online retailer Chain Reaction Cycles are distributing the bikes; the £1,599.99 Black Race features a full carbon fibre frame and fork, some impressive oversizing of the downtube and box section chainstays and a hugely reinforced bottom bracket that looks eerily similar to that found on a certain other top-end brand of race bike.
The designers clearly had a stiff frame in mind when they penned the outline for this frame, as that huge BB junction is joined by a novel twin section downtube, which they’ve dubbed ‘Double Chamber’ – a secondary supporting internal carbon wall runs throughout the entire length of the downtube. This process is also used in the forks.
The test bike has been specced with a full Shimano 105 group in the new stylish black colour option. Syntace components fill the seatpost, stem and handlebar spots. Wheels are Pro-Lite and tyres Schwable Lugano. A svelte Prologo Nago Pas saddle completes the setup.
Available in five sizes: 50, 53, 56, 59 and 62cm.
