Bianchi Intenso and Intenso Disc
Bianchi Intenso and Intenso Disc
The Intenso is another member of Bianchi’s endurance clan, and isn’t new as such, but it does get disc brakes for 2016, alongside a traditional rim brake option.
If you’re not familiar with the Intenso, we’ll quickly run through the frame’s key features. Claimed weight is approximately 1.1kg (again for a 55cm frame – nine sizes are available from 44cm to 63cm) and the carbon frame has a tapered 1-1/8″ to 1-1/2″ headtube. There are kevlar inserts on the carbon fork (which, like the frame, runs the hydraulic disc hosing internally) and seatstays in a bid to improve comfort, and the frame is compatible with mechanical and electronic groupsets.
The disc-ready version of the frame uses Shimano’s new flat mount standard (as is the case on pretty much every new disc brake bike we’ve seen recently) and 12mm thru-axles, as Bianchi say this offers a little more rigidity and wheel security over a typical quick release setup.
All in all, six Intenso models will be available; five with rim brakes and just the one with disc brakes. The rim brake Intenso will is available with Shimano Ultegra Di2 (£3,100), Dura-Ace mix (£2,600), Shimano Ultegra (£2,100), Shimano 105 (£1,800) and Campagnolo Veloce (£1,600), while the disc bike comes with Shimano 105 and hydraulic disc brakes for £2,500.
