BMC TimeMachine
BMC TimeMachine
As well as something race-ready and something endurance-based, BMC also have the TimeMachine, a bike that comes in two guises: an aero road bike and a full on time trial monster.
The two frames are similar, but although the TMR road bike shares very similar traits with the TM time trial bike, including the integrated front brake and hidden rear brake, it’s a pared back version with less severe tube profiles (though they’re still very much aero-profiled) and, as a consequence, weighs in lighter too. Again, both the TMR and TM are available in two frame versions – an 01 and 02, with a slightly different carbon fibre – to satisfy two price points.
There are no changes to either bike for 2016 and given that the TM recorded the fastest time trial in Tour history (under Rohan Dennis in this year’s race) as well as winning the world team time trial championship and the Ironman world championship last year, it seems like BMC are doing something right, so why mess with it? The only tweak is cosmetic – you can now buy the TM in a ‘testing the future’ colour scheme as used by BMC Racing: naked carbon with white decals.
The TM is available in four sizes, while the TMR has an additional two to make six options. The TMR02 and TM02 are available in Shimano 105 and Ultegra builds, which the and TMR01 and TMR02 come with a Shimano Ultegra groupset.
