BMC CrossMachine
BMC relaunched the CrossMachine cyclo-cross bike in 2015, and for 2016 they’ve added an aluminium model – the CXA01 – to compliment the top of the range carbon CX01.
The CXA01 is an all-round, UCI-approved machine that can be raced, but BMC reckon that it’s just as comfortable being deployed as a gravel bike too.
They haven’t scrimped on the spec, either. The triple-butted alloy frame comes with a Shimano 105 group paired to their hydraulic R685 disc brakes and a 46-36t chainset with an 11-32t cassette at the back providing gearing to tackle almost any terrain. You also get the same seatpost as on the GranFondo, said to be comfortable than a convestional post, along with Continental Cyclocross Speed 35mm tyres.
The CX01, meanwhile, is a dedicated ‘cross bike, and you can see that from the different gearing it employs to the CXA01. The top-end bike combines replaces the Shimano 105 group with SRAM’s single-chainring Force CX1 setup in its hydraulic disc brake guise. What that means is you get a single 40t chainring at the front paired to the same ratio 11-32t cassette, making for a dedicated off-road racing machine.
Finally, let’s see what’s in store from BMC’s track bikes for 2016.
