Boardman Bikes have unveiled their new Performance Series range, which includes the Boardman Pro Carbon SLR – with a sub-kilo frame and full Shimano Ultegra groupset for £1,799.99.
The Boardman collection is split into two distinct ranges: the Performance Series, which is sold exclusively through Halfords, and the Elite Series, which is sold through Boardman’s own network of independent retailers.
We’ll focus on the Performance Series here, with the Elite Series set to be launched on November 7. Check for then for more on Boardman’s flagship collection.
Back to the Performance Series, and Boardman run a two-year product cycle (so this is technically the 2014-2015 range), which they say allows them to ensure a new range is just that, rather than just a cosmetic makeover.
The launch was accompanied by the news that Boardman have signed a ten-year extension to their Performance Series partnership with Halfords, who have in turn committed to “investing heavily in staff training to offer better customer service”. Halfords have also created 37 ‘Boardman Centres of Excellence’, which will each stock the full range in a dedicated shop display.
Speaking of which, 25 bikes make up the 2014/15 Performance Series: five road, one track, two cyclo-cross, seven mountain bikes, six hybrids and four female-specific bikes. Impressive spec sheets and bikes that offer plenty of bang for your buck typify the range and over the next four pages we’ll focus on the road and cyclo-cross machines.
