Three-time British national champion's custom equipment given winning debut in Tour of Britain time trial

Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) was crowned British national time trial for a third time in June and the Olympic champion marked his first competitive ride against the clock since then with a custom Pinarello Bolide, Rapha skinsuit and Kask Bambino helmet.

Wiggins beat Sky team-mate Geraint Thomas and three-time defending champion Alex Dowsett (Movistar) to the top step of the podium in June and continued his winning run in London, clocking nine minutes and 51 seconds over the 8.8km course to win stage 8a of the Tour of Britain.

That result saw Wiggins rise to third overall and the 34-year-old maintained that position in the afternoon’s stage 8b circuit race. Wiggins will now focus on the forthcoming World Championships, where he will look to better the time trial silver medals won in 2011 and 2013.

Wiggins’ custom Pinarello Bolide is decorated with the red, white and blue of the Union Jack, and the flag also features on Wiggo’s helmet, while a gold RAF roundel on the Team Sky rider’s skinsuit, with the words ‘Hampton Court 01.08.2012’ underneath, is a nod to the Brit’s Olympic triumph two summers ago.
