They’re the essentials and we rarely take – or need – anything else in a saddlebag. If riding a long sportive then we may use a slightly larger saddlebag to accommodate two tubes. Some riders like to take a spare chain link and cable, while zip ties can be used to make a variety of roadside fixes. We always take identification, but this is, along with a mobile phone and house key, is normally kept in a zipped jersey or packet pocket.
