The Condor Uno wheelset is the London retail outfit’s current fixed wheel/singlespeed offering. All examples are custom made to order according to the rider’s specifications, which include a choice of spoke count and hub colour and sprocket threading. Our test hoops were 36 hole affairs with some rather fetching red Condor-branded hubs, the rear double-sided and fixed/fixed threaded.
Fitted to the “office clunker” [Erm, your regular mount, Tom – ed.] they proved to be a significant upgrade to the stock Kona wheelset it had enjoyed previously. The highish profile rims are lighter than most of their peers, with our wheelset weighing in at a shade over two kilos; not the lightest wheels in the world but under the daily pothole-ridden assault on East London’s roads they proved strong and have remained true despite at least one rather unpleasant pinch-flat incident.
The sealed hubs run smoothly and the anodised red colour choice (a £35 extra) also looks rather fetching alongside the black rims.
Overall a fine upgrade to an off-the-peg singlespeed, well built, stylish, and built to order. Not bad with change from £200; not bad at all.
