A classic short-sleeved cycling jersey, equipped with a full-length zip at the front and three pockets at the rear, the Performance 1 offers a close fit and a good range of movement. The hem is elasticated at the front and secured with a silicone band at the rear. The sleeves are free of elastic or silicone, so we’ll be relying on fit to prevent them from flapping. The fabric on the underside of the sleeve is perforated.
The panels on the front and rear of the jersey have micro perforations to keep the rider cool, and those at the side are intended to offer stretch. We’ll be wearing it beneath a gilet in these last days of autumn, but it looks well-equipped to deal with the heat of summer. Details include a zipped store for valuables on the outside edge of the left rear pocket, a small strip of reflective piping beneath the centre pocket, and a ‘zip garage’ at the collar.
The styling is subtle, with Conquest’s shield badge on the chest, the centre rear pocket, and as a silicone zip toggle. The company name is printed on the left sleeve. Our jersey is black with blue and white stripes on the right sleeve, but the same model is available in white with contrasting black panels on the underside of the sleeves. It’s sold in five sizes, from S to 2XL, and costs £81.25. We’ve opted to test the short-sleeved jersey, to give us a chance to try the arm warmers, but Conquest have thoughtfully supplied a long-sleeved equivalent too, and should temperatures plummet, we’ll press that into service instead.
